The Tablet is a key item in Dark Deception, serving as a guidance interface for each level. It was first given to Doug Houser by Bierce in level "Monkey Business", and can be activated by pressing the Space bar.
Uses[]
- Displays a full 2-dimensional map of each level, along with different types of environmental elements. (See map elements)
- Displays a counter on the top portion of the screen representing the uncollected soul shards. Once the counter reaches zero, all enemies will enter frenzy mode, and the ring barrier will shatter.
- Shows the powers that are currently being used, along with their cooldown timers. This also helps to clarify power switches.
- Displays the current objective at the bottom tab, along with an arrow pointing toward it on the screen.
Map Elements[]
On the map, various types of visual elements can be seen, indicating the locations of shards, interactive elements, and other points of interest.
- The player's position is marked by a red glowing circle affixed to the center of the screen.
- Soul shards will appear as purple squares.
- Enemy stun orbs will appear as pastel orange squares.
- Red shards will appear as light red arrows.
- Enemies will appear as dark red arrows (Only under the effect of the red shards).
- The Ring Altar will appear as a bright yellow square.
- Levers will appear as pastel green squares.
- During certain stealth sequences, enemies will appear as white dots and fields of vision will appear as white cones.

Trivia[]
- The previous owner of the tablet was mentioned once again by Malak after completing "Stranger Sewers", where he asks Bierce to reveal to the player the fate that befell her.
- In Dark Deception Enhanced we learn the previous owner was Elise.
- As of Chapter 3's release, all enemy squares and red shards have been reshaped into arrows, displaying the direction they are facing.
- The player can zoom the MiniMap by pressing "Z".
