Character Classes are a player feature in Monsters & Mortals, defining the health, damage and speed statistics of each playable monster and mortal. As of now, five character classes are available, those being Speed, Balanced, Power, Support and Ranged classes.
Speed[]
Speed characters typically have low health and damage output, but have the quickest movement speeds and attack speeds.
Monsters and Mortals in the Speed class are far more efficient at chasing and killing enemies in Maze Escape and Soul Collection as well as collecting soul shards. They are significantly weaker in combat than other players, particularly those in the Balanced and Power classes. Their attack rate, however, compensates for this weakness.
Speed Mortals when killed in Soul Collection or Maze Escape will lose 42 shards.

Balanced[]
Balanced characters possess balanced statistics, meaning they have moderate health, damage output, and speed. A majority of the characters are in this class. Due to their sheer versatility, most of them are great starter picks for newcomers to get familiar with the game.
Balanced Mortals when killed in Soul Collection or Maze Escape will lose 25 shards.

Power[]
Power characters have the highest health and damage output, but the slowest speeds and attack rates.
Monsters in the Power class are strong enough to kill Balanced with 3 heavy attacks and Speed mortals with two heavy attacks, and can kill most other monsters with 3 heavy attacks or 6 light attacks at most. While they are the slowest of the classes, they can still catch up to other Balanced or Power class enemies, making them very dangerous to fight. Power enemies are consequently slower at collecting soul shards, making them less reliable and difficult class to play in Shard Mayhem making them better at getting shards by killing other players.
Power Mortals when killed in Soul Collection or Maze Escape will lose 15 shards.

Support characters have more than the average amount of health and are capable of healing and supporting other characters through their ultimate abilities, but suffer from low damage output. Each one can also heal their teammates by using a heavy attack on them to heal them for 5 HP per hit.
Support Mortals when killed in Soul Collection or Maze Escape will lose 35 shards.

Ranged[]
Ranged characters deal less damage, are slightly faster than Balanced Monsters, and their heavy attack have a slightly longer cooldown and are also ranged whether is be having more reach or firing a projectile.
This makes them good for fights as they do not have to get too close to do damage, slightly more than average for soul shard collecting, but, cannot do a lot of damage.
Strangely, Hanako has a different damage output on her heavy attack than the other Ranged Mortal. It is 25. Probably because she doesn't have a physical heavy attack as she only fires a projectile that can be dodged. Since Penny the Chicken also shares this damage number it could be the standard.
Ranged Mortals when killed in Maze Escape or Soul Collection, will lose 25 shards.
